Sporting Kansas City went four points clear at the top of Major League Soccer's Eastern Conference with a 2-0 win away win over the New York Red Bulls on Wednesday. The hosts lie third in the table following this reverse which came with goals in the first half from CJ Sapong and Kei Kamara. Chris Wondolowski netted a late brace as Western Conference leaders San Jose Earthquakes recovered from two goals down to share the points with struggling Portland Timbers. The point was enough to move San Jose nine points clear of the Seattle Sounders as substitute Wondolowski scored after 73 and 90 minutes. Portland, who moved a point clear of bottom side Chivas USA with the draw, had led through a double by Danny Mwanga after 45 and 62 minutes. Chivas stay bottom after they were beaten 1-0 by Columbus Crew who are fifth in the Eastern Conference. The three points were secured by Justin Meram who scored in injury time after coming on as a substitute with 10 minutes remaining. FIFA
