Borussia Monchengladbach have announced that coach Lucien Favre has signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him at the German Bundesliga club until June 2017. The 56-year-old Swiss, whose existing deal was due to expire at the end of next season, has enjoyed a successful period in charge of Die Fohlen since arriving at the helm in February 2011. "Lucien has done exceptional things for us in the past three years. His name is inextricably linked with avoiding relegation in 2011 and our return to European football in 2012," sporting director Max Eberl told the club website. "There is much we can still do together, and we are very much looking forward to our continued collaboration." Former Hertha Berlin coach Favre steered Gladbach to Bundesliga survival against the odds in 2011 and took them to fourth place in his first full season. They finished eighth last season and also lie eighth with ten games of this campaign remaining. Source: FIFA.com
