Top 14 outfit Montpellier are set to fire head coach Fabien Galthie on Monday, according to a source close to the club and reported by several French dailies.
Galthie, who has held the post since 2010, allegedly received a letter on Monday informing the 45-year-old of the decision to let him go.
The former international scrum-half has been suspended from his duties and will be formally dismissed at a club meeting on January 9.
Backs coach Stephane Glas is primed to step in as head coach on an interim role with South African Jake White, who led the Springboks to victory at the 2007 World Cup, also set to have a leading role.
Galthie, who played at four World Cups and captained France in 2003 when they lost 24-7 against England in the semi-finals, spent four years as coach at Stade Francais between 2004 and 2008 before moving to the south coast.
Montpellier were beaten 27-9 by bottom club Castres in Top 14 action on Sunday and have won just one of their last nine matches.
They are currently eighth in the table 13 points behind new leaders Stade Francais who defeated French and European champions Toulon 30-6.
