The victory failed to propel Qormi in the Championship Pool as the Yellow-Blacks were pipped to the top six by Balzan Youths who finished two points above them in sixth place following a 2-1 win over Tarxien Rainbows. Marsaxlokk suffered a setback on 22 minutes when Trevor Templeman was dismissed for a second bookable offence. But despite this setback they still managed to take the lead on 32 minutes. In a quick break Peter Oladotun outmuscled Jonathan Bondin before serving Alex Pedrozo who beat Matthew Farrugia with a low shot. Stung by this goal, Qormi threw all men forward and managed to draw level seven minutes from the break when Joseph Farrugia chipped the ball into the path of Jorginho who beat Cassar with a low drive. Qormi took the lead in time added on when Jorginho's corner kick was not cleared by the Marsaxlokk defence, the ball fell into the path of Stephen Wellman who set up Triston Caruana who beat Cassar with a low drive. Qormi's Joseph Farrugia was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
