The New York Red Bulls advanced to the Major League Soccer play-offs for the third straight season on Saturday thanks to a 3-0 rout of the Philadelphia Union in their regular-season finale. Kenny Cooper opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 12th minute, and rounded things off midway through the second half, with Thierry Henry on target in between as the visitors produced a dominant display at PPL Park. DC United clinched second place in the Eastern Conference after a 1-1 draw with the Chicago Fire at Toyota Park. Lionard Pajoy headed home the equaliser five minutes into the second half, cancelling out Patrick Nyarko's stunning long-range opener to extend United's unbeaten streak to seven games. The Colorado Rapids were 2-0 winners against an understrength Houston at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, Kamani Hill and substitute Andre Akpan grabbing the goals against a Dynamo side with one eye on Wednesday's play-off clash with Chicago. San Jose, who had already guaranteed the Western Conference crown, completed their regular season with a 1-1 draw against Portland at JELD-WEN Field. Chris Wondolowski netted his 27th goal of the season with a first-half penalty for the Earthquakes, but Bright Dike levelled midway through the second period to snatch a point for the Timbers. Real Salt Lake and the Vancouver Whitecaps, who were both already assured play-off berths ahead of their clash, battled out a dull 0-0 draw at a sold-out Rio Tinto Stadium. Finally, the New England Revolution secured their first win on Canadian soil with a 1-0 triumph over the Montreal Impact, AJ Soares' 88th-minute strike proving decisive at Stade Saputo. From FIFA
