Holders Spain and Italy were tied at 0-0 at half-time of their Euro 2012 Group C opening match here on Sunday. Spanish coach Vicente Del Bosque's surprise decision not to start with a recognised centre forward had failed to bear fruit as the Spanish had few chances with Andres Iniesta going closest with a shot that went just over the bar shortly before half-time. Indeed, Spain had captain and goalkeeper Iker Casillas to thank for still being all square at the break as he pulled off an excellent one-handed save from Thiago Motta's header.
