Swiss soccer player was expelled from the London Games on Monday for posting an insulting comment on the Internet. The Swiss Olympic team said Michel Morganella was disqualified for sending a discriminatory message against South Korea from his Twitter account, according to the (BBC) The team said he gravely discriminated, insulted and violated the dignity of the South Korean football team and the South Korean people. The Swiss team said his comments were also in indirect violation of the International Olympic Committee’s ethics codes. Morganella uploaded the message shortly after his team’s 2-1 defeat to South Korea one day earlier. The account has since been deleted and he has apologised. “I made a huge mistake after a disappointing result,” said the 23-year-old. “I wish to apologies to the people in South Korea and their team, but also to the Swiss delegation and Swiss football in general,” Morganella added. Morganella is the second athlete to be thrown out of the London Games. Last week, a female Greek triple jumper was expelled over a racist.
