The Portland Timbers sent the Los Angeles Galaxy to the bottom of the Western Conference as they claimed a 2-1 win over the Chicago Fire on Sunday. Eric Brunner opened the scoring for Portland in the 20th minute, ending a run of 448 minutes without a goal for the Timbers, but Jalil Anibaba levelled six minutes before the break. Logan Pause inadvertently struck the decisive blow when he put the ball in his own net seven minutes into the second half. The win, just Portland's third of the season, lifted them above the Galaxy, who lost to Chivas USA yesterday.
