An already injury-hit Wales suffered a fresh double setback ahead of Friday's clash with Samoa when forwards Alun-Wyn Jones and Josh Turnbull were ruled out. The Welsh Rugby Union said Tuesday that lock Jones (shoulder) and flanker Turnbull (knee) would take no further part at all in a European autumn series that also sees Wales at home to world champions New Zealand and Australia. Jones went off during the first half of last Saturday's 26-12 defeat by Argentina at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium against Argentina, while Scarlets forward Turnbull was also hurt in the Pumas clash. Wales had already lost flanker Dan Lydiate and prop Adam Jones for all of their autumn fixtures due to injuries suffered earlier this season, but centre Ashley Beck and flanker Ryan Jones are on course to return against Samoa. Meanwhile, British and Irish Lions centre Jamie Robert is continuing to be assessed for mild concussion and has a chance of facing Samoa. But midfield colleague Jonathan Davies is still battling to recover from a groin problem and is unable to train fully with the squad at present.
