Wallabies fly-half Quade Cooper said on Saturday he had re-signed with the Queensland Reds for three years in a deal that will keep him in Australia until the 2015 World Cup. "I'm just thrilled to have my future settled for the next three years," Cooper told Fox Sports television. "I'm really enjoying my time here, I'm in a good place at the moment and I'm enjoying where the Reds are going as an organisation and as a team." Cooper's announcement of signing an extended contract with the defending Super 15 champions came after reports of a late-night incident in Brisbane on Thursday, which is being investigated by the Australian Rugby Union. Media reports said Cooper and Wallaby teammate Kurtley Beale were allegedly involved in an altercation with security guards after being asked to leave a hotel in the early hours of Friday morning. Cooper confirmed on Saturday he was out with Beale celebrating his new Reds deal when there was an altercation outside the hotel. "We were doing what young blokes do," Cooper said of the incident. "We were playing a bit of pool and it escalated from there. "We're both five-eighths (fly-halves) so there's not going to be too much brawling." Cooper said the risk of re-injuring his knee was too high by playing in the current three-Test series against Wales and he was targeting a Super Rugby return against the Rebels in Melbourne on June 29. The mercurial Cooper ruptured knee ligaments in the World Cup play-off for third place against the Welsh seven months ago and has played only 120 minutes for the Reds in two matches since the surgery.
