Wallaby scrum-half Will Genia has signed a new three-year deal which will keep him playing in Australia through to the 2015 World Cup, the Australian Rugby Union said on Friday. Genia, 24, currently sidelined with a knee injury, will continue playing for the Queensland Reds in Super Rugby. Under the ARU's contracting system, players negotiate with the national body after agreement with their Super Rugby team but those talks became strained with Genia reportedly eying a big deal in Japan following a reported lower-than-expected offer. "It's a massive relief. I committed to the Reds mid-season and to have it finally sorted now I'm very happy and very relieved," Genia said. "No doubt it's quite frustrating that it has taken a while but at the end of the day you have to trust the process and the governing body will do what's right by you and sort it out, and thankfully they did." Since making his Test debut as a replacement against the All Blacks in 2009, Genia has earned 40 caps. His retention comes as halves partner Quade Cooper considers his future following a lower-than-expected incentive-based offer from the ARU.
