Al Rayyan Sport Club of Qatar defeated Tigres de Nuevo Leon of Mexico 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-18) in a match of Pool A between winless teams at the Men’s FIVB Club World Championship at the Aspire Zone Hall of Doha on Tuesday. Mikko Oivanen led the offense of Al Rayyan with 10 points as the only player with double figures in the match. David Lee added 8 points, including three blocks and two aces, while Georgi Bratoev had four aces. Samuel C?rdova finished with 6 points for Tigres. The winners finished with 10 blocks to 4 of the defeated side and blanked the opposition 6-0 in service aces. Al Rayyan jumped to a 5-0 start and led 8-3 behind the offense of Valentin Bratoev and Oivanen. The local club of Qatar increased the gap to 16-9 and continued to dominate the rest of the set with David Lee and Sirianis Mendez as the heaviest producers in the offense. Al Rayyan won 25-13. Aguilera blocked Mendez for an early 2-0 lead of Tigres in the second set. Al Rayyan was on top 8-6 at the first technical time-out. Oivanen continued to hit big for the home team while Juan Virgen was performing well for the Mexican University team. Al Rayyan led 16-10 at the second pause and won 25-17. In the third set, the game continued the same path with Al Rayyan dominating their rivals.They led 8-4 and 16-10 at the technical time-outs. The home team showed good balanced offense with everyone taking part. The blocking and serves of Al Rayyan were the big difference in the match.
