Ian Kennedy earned his fourth straight win with six effective innings Friday, sparking the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 4-2 win over Philadelphia. Kennedy (10-8) used a pair of double plays to control the Phillies on a pair of runs over seven innings. The right-hander allowed seven hits and two walks while striking out one. Tony Saito and David Hernandez each tossed a scoreless inning of relief and J.J. Putz turned in a 1-2-3 ninth for his 20th save as the D-backs took the opener of a three-game series. Justin Upton homered in the second inning, putting Arizona ahead to stay, and Jason Kubel added a solo shot in the ninth. Kyle Kendrick (4-9) took the loss, yielding three runs (two earned) on five hits over four frames. Chase Utley hit a solo homer for the Phillies.
