Delmon Young broke open a tie game with a three-run double in the seventh inning Friday, sending Detroit to a 7-4 win over the Chicago White Sox. In a meeting between the top two teams in the American League Central, the Tigers climbed to within two games of the division lead. Chicago twice came from behind to tie the game, doing so for the second time in the sixth when Paul Konerko delivered a sacrifice fly. Detroit then loaded the bases with nobody out in the seventh on a walk to Andy Dirks, a single by Miguel Cabrera and a pitch that hit Prince Fielder. That brought up Young, who ripped an 0-1 pitch to deep center off Jake Peavy (9-10) for the key hit of the contest. Octavio Dotel (5-2) threw 1 2/3 innings of one-hit relief to get the victory and Jose Valverde came on in the ninth to grab his 27th save.
