David Murphy homered twice and drove in five runs Wednesday to highlight a slugfest in which the Texas Rangers outlasted Detroit 13-9. The Rangers never trailed after taking a 4-0 lead in the second inning, three of the runs scoring on Murphy's first homer. Detroit, however, kept fighting back and closed within two thanks to a four-run eighth. Elvis Andrus and Adrian Beltre then drove in the final two runs of the game for the Rangers, who teamed with the Tigers to produce 33 hits. Murphy hit a solo shot in the fourth and drove in a run with a fifth-inning single. Ian Kinsler added a two-run homer in the fourth and Leonys Martin, playing in his sixth game this season, had a two-run triple in the fifth. Veteran Roy Oswalt (2-0), making his second start of the year, allowed five earned runs on 13 hits over six innings but still claimed the victory. Doug Fister (1-5) was roughed up for eight runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings. Texas took two out of three in the series, during which the teams cranked out 44 runs and 70 hits.
