Mike Adams escaped a bases-loaded jam in the eighth to preserve the one-run lead and Joe Nathan recorded his 35th save as the American League West-leading Rangers avoided a three-game sweep. Seattle starter Jason Vargas (14-11) was tagged with the loss after the Rangers scored three runs on eight hits during his six innings.
