Greg Monroe poured in 19 points and grabbed 18 rebounds Wednesday in leading Detroit to its first win of the season -- a 94-76 whipping of Philadelphia. The Pistons had lost their first eight games in what was their worst start to a season in franchise history. They began the night as one of the two winless teams remaining in the NBA. Detroit put an end to its struggles in emphatic fashion, building an 18-point lead at halftime and easily holding on during the final two quarters. Rookie Kyle Singler, making his first NBA start, added 16 points for Detroit and both Tayshaun Prince and Brandon Knight had 15. The 76ers turned the ball over just four times, but they were outrebounded 57-38 and made a mere 29 percent of their field goal attempts. Philadelphia saw its home record this season fall to 1-3. The 76ers were led by Lavoy Allen with 14 points.
