Denmark coach Morten Olsen has received some disturbing news on the injury front ahead of his side's Euro 2012 opener against Netherlands on June 9 as Stoke City goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen has been forced to withdraw from the squad. The 35-year-old sustained a back injury in his side's 3-1 friendly loss against Brazil at the weekend, and further examination has now revealed that Sorensen will not recover from the knock in time for the European Championship. "It was a tough decision to make, and it's a severe handicap for us," Olsen commented according to the Dansk Boldspil-Union's official website. "Sorensen is a fantastic and professional person to have in our squad, and his experience would have been just what we needed against some of the strongest teams in the world." The Denmark boss has made the decision to call up Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel as Sorensen's replacement. Denmark will also have to deal with Germany and Portugal in the group stages.
