Novak Djokovic closed in on leader Roger Federer in the latest ATP rankings issued on Monday, promising an exciting duel for the prestigious year-ending top spot in men’s tennis. Federer, who dethroned Djokovic in July, has 12,165 points but the Serb is only 195 points adrift on 11,970 after an epic three-set victory in Sunday’s Shanghai Masters final against Andy Murray in which he saved five match points. The Scot Murray is third with 7,690 and, in the only change in the top 10, the Shanghai semi-finalist Tomas Berdych moved one up to sixth at the expense of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
