Austrian Anna Fenninger won the women's World Cup giant slalom crystal globe at the Swiss resort of Lenzerheide on Sunday. Fenninger, who won the overall title on Thursday, timed a combined total of 2min 01.28sec to finish 0.25sec ahead of compatriot Eva-Maria Brem. Sweden's Jessica Lindell-Vikarby finished third at 0.33sec, not enough to prevent Fenninger leapfrogging her in the overall standings to claim the globe in dramatic fashion. Fenninger finished the giant slalom standings on 518 points, with the Swede on 492. "I'm struggling to believe it after all the work in recent years," said Fenninger, who won super-G gold and giant slalom silver at the Sochi Olympics. "It's incredible that it's worked this winter despite the complicated start to the season in giant slalom." Lindell-Vikarby said she was content with her season despite losing out on the discipline's globe. "I'm really satisfied," the Swede said. "I never believed I could be on the podium in five of eight races, so I'm really happy. Anna's a great skier and she deserves it." Source: AFP
