Two-time world champion Eunice Barber, who turned 38 in November, announced Tuesday that she will make her comeback to the track in the upcoming indoor season. "I am very excited to announce that I will be competing in the 2013 indoor season," she wrote on her website. Barber won the world heptathlon title in 1999 and won long jump gold at the 2003 world championships. She has not taken part in competition since 2010, although only an injury prevented her from returning last year. Now she is expected to participate at a meeting in Eaubonne in the Paris suburbs on Thursday. "I can't wait to measure myself against the other competitors and enjoy myself. "I am in good shape mentally and physically, but now my performances will do the talking," added Barber, who was born in Sierra Leone but obtained French nationality in 1999. Apart from Eaubonne, she has not yet confirmed what other events she will take part in this season. Barber had hoped to end her career in the long jump at the 2010 European Championships in Barcelona, but failed to qualify. Earlier in 2010 Barber tried unsuccessfully to qualify for the French bobsleigh team for the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. From : AFP
