Joe Mauer knocked in four runs and Ben Revere added three hits Sunday, pacing Minnesota to a 10-4 win over Detroit in the first game of a doubleheader. Mauer finished 3-for-4, Revere scored three runs and Eduardo Escobar added two hits, an RBI and a run scored as the Twins won for only the third time in eight games. Scott Diamond (12-8) tossed seven solid innings to gain the victory, yielding two runs on four hits. Tigers starter Max Scherzer (16-7) was tagged with the loss after surrendering three runs on six hits in five-plus innings. Avisail Garcia knocked in a pair of runs for second-place Detroit, which came into the contest one-half game behind the American League Central-leading Chicago White Sox.
