Nets hottest ticket in town in Big Apple

Want to see the Nets play their first game in Brooklyn? If you don't already have a ticket it will probably cost in the neighborhood of $800 for a seat. And if you want to be courtside you're going to have to cough up a whopping $8,100 for a ticket. The NBA team, which will move into its new home at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn from their former home in Newark, N.J., is scheduled to play the cross-town rival New York Knicks on Nov. 1. Tickets to the sold-out affair are going for an average of $800.87 on the ticket-selling website StubHub.com. The New York Post said the price is the highest for a Big Apple sporting event since the New York Yankees were in the 2009 World Series. As opening day approaches, the tickets could become even more valuable. The $800-per-seat price tag is up from an average $675 on Oct. 1. The average ticket price at the box office for a Brooklyn Nets game this season is $132, The Post reported. The cheapest seats listed on StubHub.com for the game are $217.
