Robert Griffin III had a solid, if brief, debut Thursday in the Washington Redskins' 7-6 pre-season win over the Buffalo Bills. Griffin, the Heisman Trophy winner and second overall selection in the 2012 draft, played three series for the Redskins and went 4-for-6 for 70 yards and a 20-yard touchdown pass to Pierre Garcon. Garcon turned in an impressive game in his first appearance since signing with Washington as a free agent. Garcon caught three passes for 58 yards. Griffin's fellow rookie, Kirk Cousins, did the lion's share of work at quarterback for the Redskins. He completed 9-of-22 throws for 74 yards and was intercepted once. Buffalo's Ryan Fitzpatrick was 6-for-14 for 61 yards. The Bills scored on a pair of field goals by Rian Lindell.
