Damien Brunner's spectacular goal in the fourth round of a shootout Monday lifted the Detroit Red Wings to a 4-3 win over Columbus. Neither team was able to score in the tiebreaker's first three rounds, and Matt Calvert of the Blue Jackets started the fourth by missing wide on a shot. Brunner then came in on Sergei Bobrovsky, faking to the right side of the crease, but sliding to the left at the last instant, trailing the puck behind him. He was able to tuck the disc between the post and Bobrovsky's outstretched leg for the game-winner. Pavel Datsyuk provided late, score-tying goal and an assist while Brian Lashoff and Ian White also scored for the Red Wings, who logged their first win of the season. Jimmy Howard stopped 30-of-33 shots in the triumph. Cam Atkinson, James Wisniewski and Vinny Prospal scored and Bobrovsky finished with 39 saves for the Blue Jackets. From UPI
