Norwegian all-rounder Kjetil Jansrud will play no further part in the World Ski Championships after tearing knee ligaments in a crash during the men's super-G on Wednesday. The 27-year-old was appearing in his fourth world championships and has one World Cup super-G victory to his name and 11 podium finishes, notably in the giant slalom. "I'm overwhelmed by all your nice words, it helps a lot. Thank you. World Champs are over for me due to a torn ACL. #sad," tweeted Jansrud. "However. Looking at the bright side, I now get a head start on everyone for Sochi (Olympics in 2014). Tomorrow is the first day of the next season." The Norwegian was one of the self-proclaimed "Attacking Vikings" team alongside Aksel Lund Svindal, who won a bronze in the super-G. "Mixed emotions. Happy to get a medal today. Sad my buddy crashed. Looks like @Kjansrud will be missing the next races," Svindal tweeted. From: AFP
