Vance Worley struck out 11 over seven innings Thursday and, with the help of two relievers, led the Philadelphia Phillies to a 2-0 blanking of San Diego. The Phillies managed just six hits but scratched out runs on a sacrifice fly and a passed ball to halt a two-game skid. San Diego lost its third straight. Jimmy Rollins delivered the sacrifice fly in the first inning and the Phillies then turned to Worley (1-1), who limited the Padres to three hits while walking four. Chad Qualls relieved Worley in the eighth and pitched around a two-out walk and a steal of second by Chase Headley. Jonathan Papelbon walked the leadoff hitter in the ninth, who was promptly erased in a double play. It was Papelbon's fourth save. The other Philadelphia run came in the ninth when Hunter Pence drew a walk, moved to third on a base hit by Shane Victorino and scored when a pitch from Ernesto Frieri got past catcher John Baker. Joe Wieland (0-2) was the hard-luck loser, giving up the first-inning run on five hits with seven strikeouts through six innings.
