Top 14 club Brive, who finished just above the relegation zone this season, have bolstered their ranks by signing South African second row forward Johan Snyman from Llanelli, the club announced on Monday.
He was out of contract at the end of the season.
The South African, who won the under-19 World Cup in 2005, is an experienced campaigner and has also played in 16 European competition matches since 2012.
The 29-year-old came up through the system at Natal Sharks before moving to Johannesburg club the Golden Lions and finally Welsh side Llanelli Scarlets.
Snyman becomes the third signing for Brive after recruiting scrum-half Teddy Iribaren from Montpellier and back-row forward William Whetton from Castres.
Clermont play Stade Francais in the final match of the season for the French title at the Stade de France in Paris on Saturday.
