Robinson Cano's power surge continued as he homered in the New York Yankees' 7-1 win over the Cleveland Indians. Cano, who drove in three on two hits and belted is sixth long ball in eight games, was one of three Yankees to go yard along with Dewayne Wise and Nick Swisher. Hiroki Kuroda hurled seven innings of one-run ball for the win. Luke Hochevar threw a complete-game shutout as the Kansas City Royals saw off the Tampa Bay Rays. Hochevar scattered seven hits, fanned eight and walked one on his way to his second career shutout. Eric Hosmer homered and Yuniesky Betancourt knocked in three. Mat Latos struck out a career-high 13 batters in a four-hitter to help the Cincinnati Reds beat the Milwaukee Brewers 3-1. Latos allowed one earned run, on a Norichika Aoki in the sixth, and walked two across nine innings. He also had two hits. Jay Bruce led the offence for the Reds, driving in a pair. The St Louis Cardinals rallied from 6-1 down to beat the Miami Marlins 8-7 in the 10th. The Cardinals scored four in the ninth, including a two-run shot from Yadier Molina, and Rafael Furcal drove in the go-ahead run in extras. The Colorado Rockies beat the Washington Nationals 4-2 as Stephen Strasburg suffered just his second defeat of the season despite turning in a quality start. The Detroit Tigers scored five in the first on their way to an 8-2 win over the Texas Rangers. Colby Rasmus homered and drove in three runs on three hits as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Boston Red Sox 9-6. A day after his trade from Boston, Kevin Youkilis' Chicago White Sox debut did not go as planned as his new side lost 4-1 to the Minnesota Twins. The Philadelphia Phillies took advantage of four Pittsburgh errors to beat the Pirates 8-3 while the New York Mets committed three errors in a farcical four-run bottom half of the seventh as they lost 6-1 to the Chicago Cubs. Tommy Milone threw seven scoreless frames as the Oakland Athletics overcame the Seattle Mariners 1-0, the San Diego Padres beat the Houston Astros 8-7 in 10 innings and the San Francisco Giants were 8-0 winners over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
