Danish pair Jan O Jorgensen and Viktor Axelsen will face each other in the semi-finals of the Australian Badminton Open after victories on Friday.
Jorgensen downed China's Wang Zhengming in three games but has yet to be really tested at the Sydney Superseries event.
Axelsen cashed in on his Thai opponent Boonsak Ponsana smashing an easy shot into the net allowing him to avoid staring down game point in the opening game.
Boonsak had the skills to cover the court against his tall Danish opponent but not being able to secure the opener after closing a six-point deficit proved too much and he succumbed 19-21, 15-21 to the world number 9.
Chinese top seed Chen Long only needed two games to get past Hong Kong's Vincent Wing Ki Wong 21-14, 21-13 and Chen will now face compatriot Tian Houwei, who eliminated England's Rajiv Ouseph 21-9, 21-12.
Tournament top seed Li Xuerui was knocked out of the women's singles by South Korea's Sung Ji Hyun 21-17, 10-21, 21-17.
Li came within one point of levelling the final game but in the longest rally of the match, the Chinese made an impatient unforced error when executing her signature cross court dropshot to the opponent's forehand side.
Korea's Sung held on to her buffer to win and will now face Spain's Carolina Marin in Saturday's semi-finals. Marin accounted for china's Wang Yihan 21-7, 21-18.
Canada's Michelle Li fought off South Korea's Ju Bae Yeon 21-8, 17-21, 21-10 and will play China's Wang Shixian, who ousted Indian second seed Saina Nehwal 21-15, 21-13.
