Altintop delighted with Real Madrid debut in Champions

The Turkish utility man finally made his long-awaited debut for his new club, while defender Ricardo Carvalho looks forward to a crunch game against Lyon in three weeks.Real Madrid's summer signing Hamil Altintop played his first minutes for the Spanish giants when he came on as a late substitute in the 3-0 Champions League win over Ajax on Tuesday evening.The 28-year-old joined Jose Mourinho's side on a free transfer from Bayern Munich in the summer but was prevented from making his first competitive appearance for his new club until now after picking up an injury in pre-season. And the Turkey international was delighted to have finally made his bow."I'm happy to have made my debut," said Altintop, according to the club's official website."I had a good recovery process after the surgery and I felt good. It's not easy, but I'm going to take things slowly to help the team," he added.Meanwhile, defender Ricardo Carvalho was pleased that Madrid managed to pick up another three points as he aims to seal qualification to the last-16 as early as possible."We've already taken six very important points. This home win will help us," he remarked. The Portuguese defender then went on to praise Kaka, who scored a goal and assisted another in the 3-0 win."I am very happy for Kaka. The rest of the team are, too. It's important to all of us that he plays at a high level. You can tell he feels good on the pitch and that helps us perform even better." Real Madrid return to La Liga to face Espanyol on Saturday, before welcoming Lyon to the Santiago Bernabeu on October 18 for the third Champions League group match.
