Rizwan Amanat cracked a brilliant century, but his fluent innings failed to prevent Wings CC from crashing to a 26-run defeat against Nucaf Tellicherry in the 38th Bukhatir League ‘A’ Division Tournament, organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council, at the Sharjah stadium. Amanat hit 117 off 98 balls with 14 fours and two sixes as Wings CC, chasing a stiff target of 262, could manage only 235 before being all out in the 40th over. Inam Farid was the other major scorer, hitting 50 off 60 balls, but other Wings batsmen just failed to negotiate the Nucaf Tellicherry attack. Experienced CTK Mashood suffocated Wings hopes of making a strong comeback with a tidy spell of five for 44 while Oshadha Warnapura made life difficult for Wings batsmen, taking three for 32. Earlier, Nucaf Tellicherry needed a good contribution from Amjad Ali (64 off 61 balls with nine fours) to build their innings. Naeemuddin Aslam (41 off 49), Ali Asad (32 off 19), Mahood (21) and Chauvan (20) ensured Nucaf Tellicherry ended their innings of a high note. Zaheer Baid picked up four for 43 runs while Ahmed snared two for 30, but their combined efforts failed to prevent Nucaf Tellicherry from seizing the early initiative. Nucaf Tellicherry beat Wings CC by 26 runs: Nucaf Tellicherry CC 261 all out in 49.3 overs (Amjad Ali 64, Naeemuddin Aslam 41, Ali Asad 32, CTK Mashood 21, Chauvan 20; Zaheer Baid 4-43, Ahmed 2-30) Wings CC 235 all out in 39.5 overs (Rizwan Amanat 117, Inam Farid 50; Mashood 5-44, Oshadha Warnapura 3-32). Man of the match: CTK Mashood of Nucaf Tellicherry. Umpires: Mohammad Aslam and Hamid Mukthar. Scorers: Zameel Hameed and Mohammad Sarwar.
