Arshad Ali hammered a brilliant century and Amjad Javed produced a superb all-round performance to help Fly Emirates trounce Eurocon Alubond by 129 runs in the 38th Bukhatir League ‘A’ Division Tournament, organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council, at the Sharjah stadium on Tuesday night. Arshad Ali hit 114 off 124 balls with nine fours and two sixes while Javed made a fluent 76 off 67 balls, clubbing three fours and six sixes as Fly Emirates, batting first, scored 285 for seven in the allotted 50 overs. Experienced Khurram Khan (41 off 44 balls with five fours and one six) further consolidated the innings. Waqas Alvi and Shareef Asadullah took two wickets each, but they failed to put brakes on the free-flowing Fly Emirates batsmen. Eurocon Alubond, in reply, were bowled out for 156 in the 37th over with Javed doing most the damage. The all-rounder followed his fine innings with a five-wicket haul for 39 runs to suffocate the Eurocon hopes of staging a fight-back. Syed Fawad further added to the woes of Eurcon batsmen, taking two for 28. Naemullah (47 off 73 balls) and Mohammed Azam (34 off 49 balls) were the only two Eurocon batsmen who could offer some worthwhile resistance to the Fly Emirates attack. Fly Emirates beat Eurocon Alubond CC by 129 runs: Fly Emirates 285 for seven (Arshad Ali 114, Amjad Javed 76, Khurram Khan 41; Waqas Alvi 2-25, Shareef Asadullah 2-48, Naemullah 1-32, Samiullah 1-51, Mohammed Azam 1-52) Eurocon Alubond CC 156 all out in 36.3 overs (Naemullah 47, Mohammed Azam 34; Amjad Javed 5-39, Syed Fawad 2-28, Arshad Ali 1-6, Khurram Khan 1-18, Yasin Sikandar 1-25).
