The mother of of former college basketball stars Ben and Tyler Hansbrough has resigned from the University of North Carolina, the school said. Tamara "Tami" Hansbrough, a fundraiser for the university, was under fire for taking trips at university expense with her former boss, apparently to watch her son, Ben, play for Notre Dame, the Raleigh News & Observer reported. The university released a brief statement Wednesday saying she had quit. Hansbrough's older son, Tyler, played for North Carolina and is now with the Indiana Pacers. Ben Hansbrough, Big East Player of the Year in 2010-2011, plays with a professional team in Germany. Matt Kupec, the chief fundraiser, who is believed to have had a personal relationship with Hansbrough, handed in his resignation Sunday. University fundraisers travel frequently and often go out of town to games where their teams are playing, but university officials say they are looking at six trips Hansbrough and Kupec took when North Carolina was not playing and Notre Dame was.
