Australia's Bronte Campbell was delighted to win the women's 50m freestyle final at the world swimming championships on Sunday and complete the sprint double having already won the 100m title.
The 21-year-old clocked 24.12 seconds to win gold with previous champion Ranomi Kromowidjojo of the Netherlands taking silver at 0.10sec back as Sweden's Sarah Sjostrom earned bronze at 0.19.
Campbell's elder sister Cate missed out on a medal as she finished fourth at 0.24 in a blanket finish.
"That was unbelievable. I couldn’t believe I got the win on that one," said Campbell, who finishes with three golds and a bronze from the 4x100m medley relay after her 50m triumph.
"Everything at this meet has gone right for me, it doesn’t happen very often and I’m going to try to take advantage of it.
"Three golds and a bronze is more than I could have hoped for coming in.
"There were really four people in this race who could have won and I am very pleased that I managed to get my hand on the wall the quickest."
Sjostrom said she was happy with bronze as she leaves Kazan with five medals after her 50 and 100m butterfly golds, as well as silvers in the 100m freestyle and 4x100m medley relay.
"I've won five medals and I am very happy with that," said the 21-year-old, who twice broke the 100m fly world record.
"I knew it would be the toughest distance for me in this World Championship. I am delighted to be among the three medallists."
