The Cleveland Browns will be sold to Tennessee businessman Jimmy Haslam III under a deal reportedly reached Thursday, sources told various media. The transaction is valued at more than $1 billion and will give Haslam and his investor group a 70-percent stake in the venerable NFL franchise currently owned by Randy Lerner. The Cleveland (Ohio) Plain-Dealer said Lerner would keep the other 30 percent of the team. Lerner took over the Browns in 2002 when his father, Al Lerner, died. Al Lerner had received the franchise to bring the NFL back to Cleveland four years earlier.
