Russian club Spartak Moscow have fired their Spanish coach Unai Emery, minutes after suffering a 5-1 defeat at home at the hands of local rivals Dynamo. "The club's shareholders have taken the decision that Unai Emery will no longer coach Spartak," the club's general director Valery Karpin told reporters after the game's final whistle, quoted by the Interfax news agency. "We will announce our next steps soon," he added, without giving further details. The horror show against Dynamo capped a disappointing season for Spartak, who are languishing sixth in the Russian League and have also been knocked out of the UEFA Champions League and failed to make the cut for the Europa League. Emery signed a two-year contract with Spartak this summer, joining a growing number of foreign managers in the Russian top flight.
