
Wallaby star Israel Folau said on Thursday he will play for Japanese club NTT Docomo Red Hurricanes at the end of the Australian season.
The fullback re-signed with the Australian Rugby Union and NSW Waratahs on Wednesday for three more years but on a flexible contract that allows him to play overseas in between his Wallabies and Super Rugby commitments.
Folau said on social media he would link up with the Osaka-based Red Hurricanes.
"Very excited to confirm I will be a NTT Docomo Red Hurricanes player following the 2015 World Cup!!" he tweeted.
He will join fellow Wallabies Bernard Foley, Ben McCalman and Wycliff Palu in the Japanese league, and his Red Hurricanes teammates will include South Africans Handre Pollard and Eben Etzebeth.
Reports said that Folau will earn around Aus$700,000 ($535,000) a season in Japan, with the league running between August and February.
