
Four-time African footballer of the year Yaya Toure of the Ivory Coast announced Tuesday his retirement from international football on Tuesday.
Toure was part of the golden generation of Ivory Coast which included players such as Didier Drogba, his brother Kolo Toure and Gervinho. They won the African Cup of Nations in 2015 after losing twice in the final.
His achievements with his clubs are much bigger, having won the title in Spain and England. He also won the Champions League title with Barcelona in 2009.
He is considered one of the best players Africa has ever produced. He won the African golden ball four times.
