FIFA Women's World Cup™ winners Japan slumped to a 2-0 defeat against France in an Olympic Women's Football Tournament London 2012 warm-up match on Thursday, the team's second defeat in their last four outings. A 24th-minute strike from Marie-Laure Delie and a Wendie Renard goal 17 minutes from the end gave France a 17th successive win at the Stade Charlety. It was also the home team's seven match in a row in which they had not conceded a goal. Japan, drawn in Group F at the Olympics with Canada, Sweden and South Africa, have lost two of their past four matches since going down 4-1 to USA in the Volvo Winners' Cup in Sweden in June. France begin their Olympic campaign against USA at Hampden Park in Glasgow on 25 July, while Japan play Canada at the City of Coventry stadium on the same day.
