Fluminense share joint leadership of Brazil's Campeonato after edging victory over Sport Recife. The visitors had Tobi sent off 11 minutes from time and Fluminense made them pay four minutes later when Samuel Goncalves netted the only goal of the game. It moved the Rio de Janeiro side level with Atletico Mineiro at the top of the table, although Atletico have two games in hand. Sao Paulo brushed aside Ponte Preta 3-0 to climb two places to sixth. Veteran goalkeeper Rogerio Ceni opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute and four minutes later Rodrigues Lucas doubled the lead, before substitute Osvaldo completed the scoring in the 86th minute.
