Romain Grosjean insists that his third place finish in Bahrain last weekend marked the highlight of his F1 career to date, after the Frenchman stood secured his first trip to the podium at the Sakhir circuit. The Lotus driver followed Sebastian Vettel and team-mate Kimi Raikkonen home to take his best finish to date as the Enstone-based team finally delivered on the promise shown in pre-season testing. Grosjean's had started well with third on the grid in Australia, but an early retirement there – and in the following event in Malaysia – meant he failed to impress on race day. However, the Bahrain podium came on the back of a solid drive in China and Grosjean admitted it had been his best moment so far in the sport. "Sunday I think was the highlight of my F1 career, but qualifying in Melbourne was good as well," he told Sky Sports News. "The first races weren't as good as we were expecting. The performance was there and the races in China and Bahrain worked out pretty well. "We put almost everything together and it is good for the future and if we put everything together we can achieve even better results." The defending GP2 champion added that working alongside former champion Raikkonen was proving to be beneficial as he attempts to find more pace on his return to the grid. "At the moment the atmosphere is good,” he said. “We are doing the best we can for the team, but having a World Champion as a team-mate is always good as it helps you to progress faster. "The car is performing well and fighting with the big guys of the championship gives you even more experience than fighting at the back for sure."
