James Harden posted his third triple-double of the season on Friday, scoring 38 points with 12 assists and 12 rebounds to lift Houston to a 103-93 NBA victory over Detroit.
Harden's feat helped Houston snap a two-game losing streak and his three triple-doubles this season are the most in a single campaign for a Rocket since Clyde Drexler had three in 1996-97.
"It's all about having fun, especially when your back is against the wall," Harden said.
"You just lost two in a row. Two tough games. You have to get a win. So, we went out there and had fun. We executed and played together."
While Harden underlined his status as a Most Valuable Player candidate, he had plenty of help.
Terrence Jones had 17 points and eight rebounds and Corey Brewer added 15 points for the Rockets, who improved to 42-20.
Josh Smith dumped days before Christmas by the Pistons, contributed eight points and seven rebounds against his old team.
