Serie A newboys Pescara were given a less-than-friendly introduction to life in the top flight as they were beaten by Inter Milan tonight. The Delfini, second-tier champions last season, were always going to be up against it at the Stadio Adriatico and so it proved, as Wesley Sneijder got Inter up and running with 17 minutes gone. Diego Milito then caught them cold with a second two minutes later and after that it was akin to the pre-season sessions they have just finished for Andrea Stramaccioni's men, who wrapped things up through Phillipe Coutinho. Giovanni Stroppa's side's best hopes of taking anything were over when they failed to make the most of two early chances. First Giuseppe Colucci rapped a shot wide and then Gianluca Caprari's free-kick was saved by Luca Catelazzi. After that Inter took control with Sneijder slotting home from Milito's pass, before the provider turned scorer when he took in Antonio Cassano's ball. Caprari tried to whistle one in from distance to no effect after that, before Fredy Guarin drew a smart stop from home keeper Mattia Perin. The same duo locked horns after the break as well, with the stopper quickly off his line to get down to Guarin's feet, while the intrepid Guarin drove over from the edge of the area. It was clear it was not going to be the magical first night Pescara had hoped for by this stage and, with nine minutes left, Coutinho collected a pass from Milito and put the seal on things.
