South Korea's Meena Lee fired 10 birdies in a seven-under par 64 second round to grab a share of the lead at the $1.3 million LPGA North Texas Shootout. Lee and Germany's Caroline Masson, who fired her second consecutive 67, topped the leaderboard on eight-under 134 after 36 holes at Las Colinas Country Club on Friday. "I had confidence with my putting, so I made a lot of birdies," Lee said. "I'm playing well and the course is really good. Good green speeds." Americans Stacy Lewis and Natalie Gulbis shared third on 135 with compatriot Christina Kim another stroke adrift. Norway's Suzann Pettersen, Paraguay's Julieta Granada, Dutchwoman Dewi Claire Schreefel and Americans Dori Carter and Cristie Kerr were next on 137. Lee opened on the back nine with an eagle at the par-5 10th. After a bogey at 11, she fired back-to-back birdies before another befell her at 14. She followed that with three birdies in a row before taking a bogey at 18, completing nine holes in four-under 31 without a single par. "I made eagle, so started very good, and then my putting was really good," Lee said. "Inside 15 feet for par, almost always made it. "I had a lot of birdies. My irons were inside 15 feet almost every hole. Everything was on my side on the first nine." Lee played her second nine without a bogey but ran off another birdie streak at the par-5 third, par-3 fourth and par-4 fifth, then parred the last four holes to claim her share of the lead. Masson had less of a roller coaster round, with back-to-back birdies at the second and third and to open the back nine. "I started off well again, made some birdies, maybe didn't play as good as yesterday, but I made some good putts and I played pretty consistent," said Masson. "I'm just trying to enjoy it, have fun, not try to have any pressure get to me, just having a good time." Masson made her lone bogey at the eighth and closed with a birdie at the par-5 18th. "I finished with a birdie, so overall, yeah, I think it's a great day. I just have to keep doing what I'm doing, stay patient. Everything is good," she said. "I just feel comfortable with my game. It feels like I'm hitting it solid. I don't really mis-hit many shots so that makes me feel pretty confident out there." Source: AFP
