Leon won 2-0 at Queretaro in their Apertura opener on Saturday, in a match which saw both sides finish with ten men. Hernan Burbano opened the scoring for the visitors from the penalty spot in the third minute, but they suffered a setback in the 42nd minute when Juan Gonzalez was sent off. Queretaro were unable to equalise in the second half despite their man advantage, though, and Marco Antonio Jimenez's 89th-minute dismissal evened up the numbers before Edwin Hernandez made the points safe for Leon. There was late drama in the game between Atlas and UNAM Pumas, with Alejandro Palacios' 86th-minute own goal salvaging a 1-1 draw for the hosts, who had Facundo Erpen sent off in the last minute. Martin Bravo had given the visitors a seventh-minute lead. Santos Laguna battled from a goal down to overcome San Luis 2-1, with Carlos Quintero and Herculez Gomez on the scoresheet after Emilio Lopez had put the visitors ahead in the first minute. The matches between Monterrey and Club America, and Cruz Azul and Morelia, finished goalless.
