THE RETURN of a masked Kane was the highlight of the WWE's 2011 Slammy Awards. The Big Red Machine — who has been absent from WWE for five months and without his mask for eight-and-a-half years — returned on the Raw show, Chokeslamming John Cena in the process. Joining Kane in making comebacks on the programme were new road agent Road Dogg Jesse James, Rey Mysterio and Christian. Popular former Diva Lita and Tony Atlas also made appearances. The show was good in places, although we could have done without some of the attempts at 'comedy' and the now almost-weekly humiliation of Jim Ross. Among the highlights of the awards presented on the night were ones for the Mark Henry/Big Show ring collapse, Triple H Tombstoning The Undertaker, Kelly Kelly winning the Divas title and The Rock's triumphant return to the WWE. CM Punk was named Superstar of the Year. Perhaps nowhere near the level of popularity they achieved in their prime, The Slammy Awards are a fun addition to WWE programming for many fans. And as for Kane's mask coming back, well that will become clearer at WrestleMania time when the WWE are planning an indoor-mask wearing Guinness World record attempt. Now that we've got to see...
