He was coached in the youth setup by interim England boss Stuart Pearce and he hopes that this connection could help with his senior ambitions. "I know Stuart Pearce quite well from my time with the Under-21s," said Cleverley "He is a good manager. Hopefully I will be involved. I am not sure whether it is a good time though." However, the Basingstoke-born midfielder, who produced some impressive performances before his injury this season, did stress that his England aspirations would not divert his focus from domestic football. He added: "I don't really listen to what people are saying, I just go out and play my football. "If I can find some good form from now until the end of the season, I would be more than happy to be involved in the European Championships."
