No. 7-seeded Gael Monfils needed just more than an hour Tuesday to finish off a first-round victory at the Moselle Open tennis tournament in France. Monfils lost only 10 points -- four on double faults -- over nine service games in a 6-3, 6-2 romp over Olivier Rochus that took 63 minutes. Monfils fired 21 aces in his 34 points won on serve. He also won half the points when Rochus served and ended up with four breaks. Eighth-seeded Nikolay Davydenko advanced with a 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 decision over Mischa Zverev. Davydenko cashed in five of his six break opportunities over the last two sets. French qualifiers Vincent Millot and Clement Reix also posted first-round wins Tuesday. Reix stopped Edouard Roger-Vasselin 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 in a match in which both players won 92 points. Millot was a 6-4, 6-4 winner over Igor Sijsling. Ivo Karlovic came out on top of a 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-5) decision over Kenny De Schepper in a match in which neither player's serve was broken. Also, Benoit Paire, another Frenchman, handled Xavier Malisse 6-1, 6-4 in 54 minutes.
