Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh has been fined $30,000 for a kick to the groin of an opposing quarterback, league officials said Wednesday. The NFL said Suh would escape suspension but faced the monetary sanction after his foot struck the groin of Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub during the Lions' 34-31 overtime Thanksgiving Day loss. Suh was being hauled down during a pass rush when he made contact with Schaub. The blow sent the Texans signal-caller to the ground in pain. The Lions player was suspended two games last year trying for to injure Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith by stomping on his arm. Suh is also facing off-field problems. Lathrup Village, Mich., officials said Tuesday they were reviewing a Nov. 15 ticket he received for allegedly failing to use due care and caution while driving through the town. Suh allegedly was traveling at a high rate of speed and then merged in front of other vehicles when his lane ran out. The player has a long history of driving-related incidents, the Detroit News reported.
